Built for Lagos, street by street
The map that knows your street.
Find the street, the bus stop and the gate you actually walk through. Rana Maps is made by people who live here, so the map keeps getting closer to the road you know.
Free on Android. No account needed.
Most maps stop at the main road. Life in Lagos doesn't.
“Where exactly are you?”
The rider is on your street and still calling. The street has a name. The map doesn't know it.
“Your shop doesn't show.”
Customers search for you and find nothing, so they buy from the shop they can find.
“The gate is round the back.”
The pin lands on a wall. The way in is a small gate that only people who live here know.

How mapping works
Mapped by people who live here.
-
Step 1
Record a trip
Walking, or as a passenger on okada, keke or danfo. Open Contribute in Rana Maps and tap to start. It only records when you start it.
-
Step 2
Mark what you see
Street names, bus stops, gates, shops, potholes. Add a voice note or a photo of a sign. Nothing leaves your phone until you send it.
-
Step 3
It goes on the map
We check each report. Once approved it is on the map for everyone, and it earns you points.

Good questions.
Does it work in my area?
Roads and directions work beyond the areas we've mapped in detail. Street names, gates and stops arrive as contributors add them, starting in Epe and spreading across Lagos.
Do I need an account?
No. You only join if you choose to contribute, and even then there's no login.
Does the app track me?
Your location is used while you use the map. A trip records only after you tap to start it, and stays on your phone until you send it. Read the privacy policy.
Is there an iPhone app?
Not yet. Rana Maps is on Android first.

Reverse geocoding, distance matrix, route optimisation, live traffic, place details, iOS and web SDKs. Tell us which you need first.
The last 100 metres is where you lose money.
Failed deliveries, repeat calls, riders circling the block. Our data comes from people on the ground, so results can include the detail a driver needs to finish the trip.

Cheaper than Google Maps
Pricing is being set with our first customers. It will be lower than Google Maps, and billed in naira, so the exchange rate stops being your problem.
Coverage, straight
Lagos is the focus, with detailed mapping under way in Epe now and more areas and cities to follow. Tell us where you operate and we'll tell you what we have there today.
What teams ask first.
How hard is it to move from Google Maps?
Our tiles work with MapLibre, and the APIs cover the same jobs: route, search, show a map. We'll work through your setup with you during early access.
Can we run it alongside what we have?
Yes. Many teams will want to start with one city or one API and compare results on their own trips.
Can we buy the raw data?
No. Access is through the APIs and SDK, under the API and SDK terms.
When will prices be published?
After we've set them with our first customers. Early access teams hear first.
