By joining as a contributor, you agree to these pilot terms. You contribute to EL-Joy Technologies, Epe, Lagos, Nigeria.
Who may contribute
You must be 18 or older. You contribute as an independent volunteer, not as an employee. Rewards are recognition only: points, ranks, badges and an optional public leaderboard name. There is no cash or other payment.
Collect safely and honestly
- Submit information you observed yourself. Do not copy, trace or reproduce another commercial map.
- Do not map or photograph military or police sites, checkpoints, airports or ports, government installations, prisons, embassies, officials' homes, school or worship interiors without permission, or the inside of any compound.
- Keep your attention on the road while driving or riding. If you are driving or riding an okada yourself, use only the voice note button and only when it is safe. Follow the road rules where you are. Stop somewhere safe before doing anything else on the phone or taking a photo. Ride marking is for passengers only.
- Photograph only a sign or house number. Never photograph a person. Review the blurred preview and discard a photo if a person or readable number plate remains.
- Recording and photo features can be used at any hour. Use your judgment and stop if a place or situation feels unsafe or someone asks you to leave.
Where contributions go
Rana reviews contributions before showing approved facts on its map. Road and footpath corrections may be shared with OpenStreetMap after review. Other collected features, including street names, places, gates, stops, photos and voice notes, stay in Rana's private layers.
You give EL-Joy Technologies a non-exclusive licence to use, review, correct, display and distribute the material you submit to operate and improve Rana Maps. Road and footpath corrections shared with OpenStreetMap are subject to OpenStreetMap's contribution terms. The exact licence wording is pending legal review.
Privacy and deletion
Trips include location and sensor summaries. Photos are blurred on the phone before saving. Voice files are removed by the retention job 90 days after a transcript is marked checked by default. Unchecked audio has no automatic deletion schedule in the current code. Read the privacy policy.
You can request contributor-data deletion from You in the app or from the delete my data page. Approved map facts may remain without a link to you. The points ledger remains append-only and tied to an anonymised contributor record.
